The pasta recipe
I wanted to Impress this new colleague I met at work, Samantha. I invited her over for Dinner, and lied to her straight away. I told her I know how to cook. There was no turning back.
Therefore, I had two options :
1) Order food and pretend I made it myself
2) Face the truth and try to reproduce a recipe
Of course I chose the first option, but everything was closed.
I then opened the recipe book my mother gifted me for my 35th birthday, when she lost hope of seeing her son getting married.
Homemade pasta. That was the one. The book said it takes half an hour to make, including the pasta making. I was ready.
Eggs. Needed three of them which luckily were the exact number I had left. Dropped one, now I had two. Thought I’ll manage to make it work. Flour. I sneezed on the bowl. No more flour, had to go ask a neighbor. Succeeded.
Let the water boil before putting the pasta in it… for too long. Forgot about it, it got everywhere. I ran to move the pan away, forgot to clean the egg I dropped, slipped and fell.
The moment I touched the floor, the door knocked. She was there. I was screwed either way. I got up quietly and sat on the sofa without making a noise until she left. Now I have to look for a new job.
